Kazakh Foreign Ministry’s press service reported that Sixty-four people, including 42 citizens of Kazakhstan and 22 citizens of Kyrgyzstan, were evacuated to Astana on Feb. 9 from the Turkish areas affected by the devastating earthquake. People were evacuated from the provinces of Gaziantep, Mersin, Kahramanmaras, Diyarbakir, Sanliurfa, and Elazig.

The parliamentary elections are stage two of Tokayev’s program, following his reelection with 80 percent of the vote last November. The elections will see 70 percent of lawmakers elected through party lists, while the remaining seats will be contested in single-member districts.
