On May 3rd 1986, The Art Of Excellence by Tony Bennett became the first album in the US to be initially released on CD instead of the traditional vinyl format. The Art of Excellence was his first album after re-signing with his former label Columbia Records and began a rise in popularity that would continue through the 1990s.

Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” — starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Jenna Ortega and Willem Dafoe — will open the upcoming Venice Film Festival. The latest trailer shows a member of the Deetz family who has passed three generations of sudden death. They returned to their house in the city of Winter River, Connecticut. Beetlejuice 2 will start showing in cinemas throughout the world in September 2024.

The single was released to celebrate the 70th anniversary of his birth, a previous Elvis chart topper was re-released each week.

Kurt Cobain’s smashed Fender Stratocaster guitar sold at auction for $595,900, more than 10 times its original estimate. The Nirvana frontman’s iconic left-handed electric guitar was smashed while the grunge pioneers were making their seminal Nevermind album in the early 1990s. Reassembled but unplayable, it was expected to sell for between $60,000 and $80,000 at the Julien’s auction at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York over the weekend.
