The city of Shanghai, China, was swept by typhoon Bebinca, a category 1 strong tropical cyclone on Monday morning at around 7:30 am. Shanghai is a southern city and China’s financial center with a population of 25 million. The onslaught of typhoon Bebinca, at 151 kph, has been the most powerful typhoon to sweep through the region in more than seven decades.

Gas blast in Kenyan capital kills two and injures hundreds
A huge gas blast in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, has killed at least two people and injured at least 222. A government spokesperson said that lorry carrying gas exploded in Embakasi district around 23:30 (20:30 GMT), igniting a huge ball of fire.
