Putin will not attend BRICS Summit 2023
South Africa has announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has an outstanding arrest warrant issued in his name by the UN’s International Criminal Court (ICC), will not travel to a BRICS summit to be held in Johannesburg next month. The office of President Cyril Ramaphosa said in a statement on July 19 that by mutual agreement, President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation will not attend the Summit, but the Russian Federation will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

People throughout the United Kingdom will choose all 650 members of the House of Commons on July 4 for a term of up to five years. The party that commands a majority in the Commons, either alone or in coalition, will form the next government and its leader will be the prime minister.

Shanghai hit by strongest typhoon in over 70 years
The city of Shanghai, China, was swept by typhoon Bebinca, a category 1 strong tropical cyclone on Monday morning at around 7:30 am. Shanghai is a southern city and China’s financial center with a population of 25 million. The onslaught of typhoon Bebinca, at 151 kph, has been the most powerful typhoon to sweep through the region in more than seven decades.
