Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smaiylov on August 19 blamed the owners of a coal mine for a deadly fire that took the lives of four miners this week in Shakhtinsk, a city about 60 kilometers from Temirtau, central Kazakhstan. Smaiylov said the company’s noncompliance with the rules of the industry was the main cause of the fire.

Germany to supply Ukraine with largest aid package
Germany announced on Saturday that it would supply Ukraine with an aid package worth nearly $3 billion to strengthen the country’s defense, marking Berlin’s largest pledge in military aid since the start of the war. The German Ministry of Defence said in a statement that the package may include a variety of military hardware, including armoured personnel carriers, 30 Leopard tanks, reconnaissance drones and ammunition.
