Voting begins in India’s election

Millions of Indians began voting Friday in a six-week election that’s a referendum on Narendra Modi, the populist prime minister who has championed an assertive brand of Hindu nationalist politics and is seeking a rare third term as the country’s leader. People began queuing up at polling stations hours before they were allowed in at 7 a.m in the first 21 states to hold votes.

And it was swiftly followed up two hours later with a drop of 15 additional songs. Swift previously shared the tracklist for her album in an Instagram post. In addition to The Manuscript bonus track, Swift later revealed an additional three bonus tracks, which will be available in different versions of the album. The singer-songwriter’s follow-up to Midnights opens with the Post Malone collaboration “Fortnight” and features another star act, Florence and the Machine, on mid-album cut “Florida” Swift also worked on the album with her two go-to producers, Bleachers Jack Antonoff and the National`s Aaron Dessner.

Indonesia election commission confirms Prabowo Subianto as new president

General Elections Commission Chair Hasyim Asyari announced that Defence Minister Prabowo and his vice presidential running mate, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, won a majority of votes on February 14, winning 59 percent, or more than 96 million votes. Anies Baswedan secured nearly 41 million votes, or 25 percent of the total count, while Ganjar Pranowo received 27 million votes, more than 16 percent.

South Sudan closes schools due to extreme heatwave

South Sudan is closing all schools from Monday in preparation for an extreme heatwave expected to last two weeks. The health and education ministries have advised parents to keep all children indoors as temperatures are expected to soar to 45C (113F).
