Poland’s Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski urged EU governments to stop providing social support to Ukrainian men of fighting age who are refugees in their countries. During the Yalta European Strategy, a forum for discussing Ukraine’s European future which was held in Kyiv, Sikorski said that to “help Ukraine’s war effort”, there should be “no financial incentives for avoiding the draft in Ukraine.”

The search and rescue operations due to Syria earthquakes is ended
The death toll due to the earthquakes rose to 40,642, and the work of searching and rescue for people stuck under the debris has ended in most of the provinces. Head of The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, Yunis Sezar said that they will end the search and rescue operations by tomorrow night. Teams have been finding survivors all week despite them being stuck for so long under the rubble in freezing weather, but their numbers have dropped to just a handful in the past few days.

Ukrainian top military commanders continue to defend Bakhmut
The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his top military commanders have pledged to continue defending the besieged eastern city of Bakhmut in the face of intense Russian pressure. Moscow has targeted the embattled Donbas city with heavy shelling in a three-sided assault, but its forces have been unable to deliver a knockout blow which would enable them to seize it and finish off the resistance.
