Seven people were arrested on Tuesday in relation to incidents of racist abuse directed at Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. this season. Spanish police said four young men had been detained for allegedly hanging an effigy of Vinícius off a bridge in Madrid in January, while three others were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the racist insults aimed at the Brazilian during Sunday’s match against Valencia.

Olympics-Teen skater, Arisa Trew wins Laurens Action Sports Awards
Arisa Trew, a 14-year-old skateboarding sensation with her eyes set on the Olympics, has become the sole Australian to be honoured at Laurens Action Sports Awards, the world sport’s biggest awards gala. Trew was honoured for her pioneering feat at the age of just 13 last year, when she became the first female skater to land a 720 – two full rotations in mid-air – in competition.

Messi won Best Fifa men’s player of the year award
Argentina and Paris St-Germain forward Lionel Messi has been named men’s player of the year at the 2022 Best Fifa Awards. The 35 year old beat French forwards Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema to the prize. Messi captained Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar, and scored 27 goals in 49 games for club and country in 2021 and 2022. Messi, who won the award for a second time, said that it’s been a tremendous year and an honour for him to win the award.
