On August 10th 1968, Tom Jones went to No.1 on the UK album chart with ‘Delilah’. The lyrics were written by Barry Mason, and the music by Les Reed, who also contributed the title and theme of the song. It earned Reed and Mason the 1968 Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. Shortly after its release, “Delilah” became an unofficial anthem in Welsh rugby.

On November 23rd 1991, Michael Jackson had his fourth UK No.1 single with ‘Black or White’ which featured Slash on guitar. Also a No.1 hit in the US. Around the world, “Black or White” hit number-one in at least 20 countries and territories, including the UK, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Cuba, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Zimbabwe and the Eurochart Hot 100. It was the best-selling single, worldwide, of the year 1992.
