In February 25th 1984, ‘Jump’ by Van Halen started a five-week run at No.1 on the US singles chart, (a No.7 hit in the UK). Singer David Lee Roth wrote the lyrics after seeing a television news report about a man who was threatening to commit suicide by jumping off a high building. Roth thought that one of the onlookers of such a scene would probably shout “go ahead and jump”.

On January 29th 2021, Hilton Valentine, original guitarist and founding member of The Animals, died at the age of 77. In 1963 he was recruited to join The Animals alongside Chas Chandler, Alan Price and John Steel. He went on to play on classics like ‘Baby Let Me Take You Home’, ‘Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood’, ‘We Gotta Get Out of This Place’, ‘It’s My Life’ and ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’, and on the band’s landmark, trans-Atlantic number one cover of the traditional folk song ‘The House of the Rising Sun’.

Kylie Minogue who is known for having explored a variety of music genres throughout her career including pop, Indie, country, and disco – teased that her upcoming 16th studio album will be a mixture of electro and 90s house music as she admitted she couldn’t wait to share it with fans.
