People throughout the United Kingdom will choose all 650 members of the House of Commons on July 4 for a term of up to five years. The party that commands a majority in the Commons, either alone or in coalition, will form the next government and its leader will be the prime minister.

UNESCO supports the development of ICT competency standards for teachers in Tajikistan
48 participants took part in the first national workshop on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) competency standards development- organized as part of a UNESCO project funded by the European Union from 4 to 7 July 2023. The national workshop aimed at developing national standards for ICT competencies of teachers, implement policy in the field of digitalization of the education sector and introduce the use of ICT in educational processes.

A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck southern Ecuador
At least 13 people died after a magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck southern Ecuador on Saturday afternoon. According to the United States Geological Survey, The earthquake struck near the southern town of Baláo and was more than 65 km (nearly 41 miles) deep. An estimated 461 people were injured in the quake. The government had previously reported that 16 people were killed but later revised the death toll. In the province of El Oro, at least 11 people died. At least one other death was reported in the province of Azuay.

Voting begins in India’s election
Millions of Indians began voting Friday in a six-week election that’s a referendum on Narendra Modi, the populist prime minister who has championed an assertive brand of Hindu nationalist politics and is seeking a rare third term as the country’s leader. People began queuing up at polling stations hours before they were allowed in at 7 a.m in the first 21 states to hold votes.
