Red alerts have been issued for nearly 3,000 cities across Brazil, which is experiencing an unprecedented heatwave. On Sunday, Rio de Janeiro recorded a temperature of 42.5 degrees Celsius – a record for November – and high humidity on Tuesday made it feel like 58.5 degrees Celsius.

Train derailment near Cairo kills at least two passengers and injures 16
At least two people were killed, and 16 others were injured after a train derailed north of Cairo on Tuesday. The Ministry of Transport said The train crashed into a train station platform in the city of Qalyub. About 20 ambulances rushed to the scene to assist the wounded. Egyptian transport minister, Kamel El-Wazir has ordered a committee to be formed to find out what caused the derailment and to identify those responsible and limit the damage.
